How Does It Work For Weight Loss?

Semaglutide imitates the effects of the hormone glucagon-like Peptide 1 (GLP1). GLP1 is released into the gut when you eat, telling your brain you're full. It also slows food movement through your stomach and small intestine, helping you stay fuller for longer. As a result, you may eat less food, which can lead to weight loss.

How Much Weight Can You Lose On Semaglutide?

An early study of 2,000 obese adults compared using Semaglutide plus a diet and exercise program with people who made the same lifestyle changes without Semaglutide. After 68 weeks, half of the participants using Semaglutide lost 15% of their body weight, and nearly a third lost 20%. Participants who incorporated only lifestyle changes lost about 2.4% of their weight.

How Fast Can I Expect To See Results?

On Semaglutide, once you reach the total dose at 9-16 weeks, it is typically a steady 1-3 pounds of weight loss a week. Although some people see results immediately, you may not lose weight until 6-8 weeks of treatment. Who Should (And Should Not) Use Semaglutide?

The F.D.A. recommends Semaglutide for weight loss if you meet one of the following criteria:

Avoid Semaglutide if you have:

History of medullary thyroid cancer
History of gallbladder disease
History of pancreatitis
Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
